The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

August 19 , 2018

WELCOME to St. John’s Lutheran Church!

We believe that it is our mission to bring the Word of God to those who do not know Jesus as their Savior, to build the faith of those who do, and to share the love of God with our community and the world.

If you have any concerns or suggestions, please speak with the Pastor or Elder on duty.

A Member Congregation of Lutheran Church - Canada

August 19: The Daily Baptism, Romans 6:3-11; colossians 2:6-15

ALTAR FLOWERS: See sign-up for flowers for the rest of 2018

OUR CHURCH DIRECTORY: Photographers will be here August 23 & Sept. 11th. See master schedule on utility room door to pick the time for your sitting. (If anyone is able to help the elders out by calling members, please let the office know). It is important that we have as many people/families that attend St.John’s be part of a new church directory. There are reminder cards in your mailbox for sittings that were booked for the 23rd to today.

Warman Fall Supper:  See insert and sign-up sheet on narthex board to see where you may be able to help. Many hands are needed to make this a successful event

Fair Booth Update:  Thank you to everyone who staffed the LLL Booth this year.  More Bibles and New Testaments were given away than in any previous single year.  The most popular titles of Project Connect booklets were "The Truth about Angels", "Why do Bad Things Happen", "Managing your Money" and "Why Should I go to Church".  We had more Portals of Prayer donated to us this year and half of them were given away.  A number of people wanted to know how to get them for a full year.  A few people expressed appreciation that we were offering a Christian perspective to every day problems.

SASKATOON & NORTHLAND’S CIRCUIT EVENT: hosted by St. John’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 starting at 7 pm, See poster for details.

CLEANING LIST:  Please check cleaning list in hallway by washrooms to see where you can help keep our building neat. Thank you!

OFFERING ENVELOPE LABELS: If you need labels, speak to Annie or leave a note in the first office with your name and number.

August 26 2018 - “What is Best”      (Philippians 1:9-10)

Speaker of the Lutheran Hour: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus

Far too many people assume there are differences in commercial products, political candidates and school systems, but these same people believe all religions are the same.

Today we join with the Apostle Paul in praying people may discern what is best when it comes to their Saviour.

Prayer Thoughts for the Week

We remember those needing your hand of healing, especially for Dale, Judy, Albert, Ross, Hailey, Ted, Hawkley, Betty, Gail, Dyanna, Nora, Bob and Dorothy, Alison, Michelle, Karen, Ruby, Martha, Elizabeth, Bev and Mel. Give them your strength and hope for every tomorrow.

Dear Lord, we thank you for the many blessings you have given us. We thank you for our families, friends and homes. We especially give thanks for the farmers all over the world who work hard to provide the food we need to sustain us. Please watch over them and keep them safe as they head into the harvest season and provide them with favorable weather conditions to harvest their crops. We ask this in your precious and worthy name. Amen
