The Seventh Sunday

Of Easter

May 24 , 2020

WELCOME to St. John’s Lutheran Church!

We believe that it is our mission to bring the Word of God to those who do not know Jesus as their Savior, to build the faith of those who do, and to share the love of God with our community and the world.

If you have any concerns or suggestions, please speak with the Pastor or Elder on duty.

Please consider supporting your congregation during this time by mailing in a cheque with your offering envelope inside a larger envelope or by email transfer to:

This can be a lonely time and we all need to support one another.

At the present time CPH is posting the current PORTALS OF PRAYER devotion on our website homepage  until congregations are able to start holding services again and members can pick up their copies at church.  PORTALS OF PRAYER also has its own Facebook page where the current day’s devotion is being posted each day.  Additionally the FACEBOOK page has some of the most recent past devotions also available.

For Home    On this webpage a complete free and downloadable issue of a special edition of PORTALS OF PRAYER is available.  Be sure to check it out.

May 31, 2020:   "Jesus Doesn’t Babble" (John 14)
Speaker: Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison.  Jesus brings the Word of peace to those who have grown weary of all the babble.  Hear this inspirational message on CJWW (600am) at 7:00am. Streaming audio and pod-casts at

We pray for the most vulnerable among us.  Gracious Father in heaven, Your Son taught us that as we serve the least among us, we serve Him in cognito. We pray for the most vulnerable in our communities - our elderly, our sick, those who live in the streets, those who are isolated. Forgive us, when we have forgotten them in our haste to fill our own cupboards. As Your compassionate heart is turned toward the poor, the widowed, the least, the lost, and the lowly, turn our hearts toward them too, and make us instruments of Your goodness. Teach us to see Christ in our neighbor in need. Hear us, in the Name of Jesus Christ, your Son our Lord, who by His poverty, weakness, and death won life for all. Amen

Prayer Thoughts for the Week

We remember those needing your hand of healing, especially for Charmaine P, Chris Z, Olinda F, Larry N, Alice L, Ben B, Mel H, Terry T, Rachel B, Mike S, Alex G, Ken N, Don K, Ann K, Dale B, Albert K, Nora S, Bob and Dorothy W, Alison T, Michelle W, Karen D, Ruby D, Margaret D, Elizabeth B, & Bev W. Give them your strength and hope for every tomorrow.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, into this world to save us from sin and death.  His atoning blood is our salvation and there is nothing we can to do add to the finished work on the cross.  Jesus, you are our first love and we give you our hearts.  Complete your good work in us so that we can help share the light and the truth of the gospel.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
